San Diego March 2011

This past week has been so great. I wish there was a way I could have stayed in San Diego. The only problem was that I missed the kids. It was so great to get away with Tyler. The break was needed so badly. I needed a break from all the medical drama in my life. My health has been crazy and it was such a pleasure to just take a shrt break from reality for awhile. I want to remember this trip, so I will remember with some pics. It was such a surprise to even go on this trip. It was my valentine's day surprise from Tyler. He had a business trip for HP and they were so awesome to let me come too. We stayed at the Sheraton Bay Hotel. It was literally on the San Diego Bay. This is the view from our back deck. I took this picture the minute I stepped into our room.
It was the marina. It was so fun to see all the boats. It reminded me of our Honeymoon in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico because out the back we could see the marina like this. That was so great. I immediately felt my spirit lift with the beautiful sunshine, all the green beautiful hills and of course the ocean, which I love, love, love. I was able to hang out and chill while Tyler had to go to his Classes. Hp had about 1,000 employees at the convention. I went out and this is what I saw when I walked out the front door of the hotel.

There was this great walkway, sidewalk along the bay. You could see down town San Diego and the Bay Bridge. It was absolutely beautiful. If I looked a bit more to the right I could see the Naval base. It was fun to just sit there and see quite a few naval ships come through and watch the planes land and a lot of action going on. In fact they were loading a ship right there that was being deployed to help the disaster in Japan. San Diego is south right next to Mexico. And With the earthquake and Tsunami in Japan there was actually 9 foot high waves that came into Northern california, close to Oregon also. We were in no danger being so South from the damage, but it did cause a lot of damage in Northern California. The Tsunami had such devastating effects. To think it was so far away in Japan and the waves actually caused some damage in the US was crazy.

One of the many ships from the naval base

I was able to just chill out for a few days and relax and Tyler Finished his convention by Friday night and we were able to go into downtown San Diego for Dinner. It was a lot of fun. It's one of the biggest cities I've been in, in the US. HP took us downtown to a place called the lamplight district. It was a huge sreet with these huge beautiful lamp/lantern lights that adorned the whole street miles long. There were so many restaurants, shops, galleries, theatres, and many cultural activities going on. It was so much fun. We decided to eat at one of our favorite places "The Old Spaghetti Factory" When we went inside it was 6 levels. I love the restaurant, every city you go to where this restaurant is, it's very fun to see how they decorate it. It was a very vibrant and fun place to be.

The next day we set out on our adventure. It was our vacation without ANY plans. It was so fun to just decide what we wanted to do. The first thing I wanted to do was find the San Diego Temple. It's always been my favorite temple. That is until the Rome temple is built. haha. Of course I will be biased to that temple considering I served my mission in Italy. But I've always wanted to see the San Diego temple for as long as I can remember. It really is magnificent and gorgeous. You drive down highway 5 and you kind of turn a little bend and it stands out majestically. I think i took a million picures. I'll just post a few of my favorites. It was so fun to see a few brides come out. It was fun to see the look on those couple's faces. They looked so happy. It took me back to that beautiful day I was married. There is no place like the temple and knowing that you are sealed together forever.

Just the most beautiful place
After we went to the temple we traveled up the coast a little to a beach in an area called Del Mar. It was a beautiful beach. It had the beach and a lot of very pretty hiking areas above the beach with a park that had so many families and pets. I was wishing so much my kids were there. It was so fun and it had a little street that was the pride of the little town that had a lot of shops and fun places. It reminded me a lot of Italy. It is so hilly and green with beautiful flowers and the smell of the Ocean was just so great!
So great to have our feet in the ocean

haha Not too sure why I couldn't wait to set my purse down before I ran to the waves

After we hiked around for a little bit we walked up to the charming little town of Del Mar. I loved it. I loved the Ivy covering the buildings.
After a lot of walking around it was so great to go back and have that oh so lovely hot tub to sit in. I told Tyler if he wants a happy wife he needs to get me a hot tub. It was so great because the pool and hot tub had a glass wall around it so you could see the marina. It was fun to see all of the people that we're hanging out or living on those boats. We wanted to walk down onto the docks and see if we could just claim one of the boats for the night.haha
The next day we decided to check out the San Diego Zoo. I'm kind of crazy about the zoo. I can stare for hours at certain animals. We had heard a lot about the zoo there. When we got there I couldn't believe how huge that place was. I was so excited to see the panda bears because I've never seen one before. They were so cute. Also, there was a momma Hippo who had a 2 month old baby and she ws trying to teach it how to swim and hold it's breath under water. It was seriously the cutest thing ever. I couldn't believe how big that place was. The amount of trees and green was so amazing. One of the prettiest places I've ever seen.

If you look close you can see baby being pushed by her Momma
After the zoo we decided to go across the bay bridge to a beach called Coronado. It was absolutely beautiful, huge, and several miles long. There was an absolutely beautiful Resort on the Southern Part of the Beach. We had so much fun on the Rocks looking for seashells, that was Alaria's main request that we bring home some real seashells. We saw some crabs and a lot of sea urchins and clams. It was fun to lay on the beach and walk in the surf. There is nothing more relaxing to me than the beach. I love the sound of the waves and the way it smells. It was a great beach that I can't wait to take the kids back to.

We Love Alaria and Nick

Resort from Heaven

After we left the beach on our way back to the hotel we passed by the Temple at night and we stopped to see it all lit up. I could have stayed there all night just staring at that place. Just so beautiful to me. It felt gro sit there with my husband and reflecting on the last 11 years. It hasn't been all an easy road. Nothing normal that is for sure. A definite trial that I didn't count on was having my body betray me in a way that I never expected. I sat there and was so happy to have a break from the reality that my body continues to do things that I don't want it to do. We have had 2 beautiful kids and I'm so happy for that, but I won't lie and say that I alwas dreamed of having a large family with lots of children. And as I sat there looking at the temple I was reminded that we will have our chance to add to the great family we have one day. And after the trial of this life is over we will all get the chance to to realize those dreams we have. I felt a strong love from my Father in Heaven.  I sit here today and don't know my fate. I'm waiting for new news about the problems my body is having. It can be scary, but i'm so thankful for my family and my friends, and most of all my faith that gets me through the hard times. I know I'll get through it.

My Love!

Why do they always think I'm a terrorist?

So I feel so dumb because I killed myself to get the house somewhat ready to leave my kids for a few days with Grandma. I was up last night until crazy hours, didn't sleep. GOt outta there and to the airport and I'm sitting here feeling dumb because i get to the gate and realize I looked at the flight info wrong. My plane doesn't leave for another 2 hours. How dumb. And EVERYTIME I fly I ALWAYS get flagged to get searched. My bag, my self. It's crazy. Even when I went on my mission to Southern Italy where the guards are furnished with machine guns my bag was the only one out of the 15 of us to get ripped open and slashed through. Today was no exception. I must look scary because I got flagged and I am not joking when i say that I have never made it through an airport without having my bag searched. I love everyone gets to feel safe and I get it, but really everytime? Oh well, here I sit with my computer and 2 hours to mess around at the gate.haha I'm so excited to go to San Diego though. I'm excited to get out of here and leave reality for a few days.
I also went to m new Internists appt. this week. She sent me to have a lot more tests for in depth answers, but she did say a few things that gave me pause that she is thinking and will be looking for.
OK I just found out that I may suffer from a genetic blood disease that makes our blood really thick and it can ruin your liver, lungs, and heart, you may have seen some of my posts about my brother who has had 4 deadly bloodclots ruin his heart and lungs, hes a mess. My mother also suffers from it and my grandmothe actually died from a bloodclot at my age, that was long ago, and if we catch it before it does anymore harm it could be really good. So, I finally found an Internist who will pay attention and is interested in getting me better, so I feel great about that, finally. It is a trial, but in all reality it has made us closer as a family. Trials are hard, but it's like we learn that we need the lows to feel the highs.

Who's the real teacher here?

I am so often reminded of the fact that I'm pretty sure the kids are here to teach me more than I teach them. This morning getting ready for church we were doing awesome on time. With Tyler in the bishopbric he has to leave so early and is gone all day. So, I have to get the kids ready by myself and get myself ready and I always underestimate how much time I have left. I'm usually late. But this morning we we're ready to go on timea and had a few moments to spare even. Alaria got my old camera for Christmas and she wanted to take some pictures with her camera before we left. It's so funny to watch her. She LOVES that camera and she loves to try and video tape us in secret to catch us doing something. Like she loves to tape Nick when he argues about what we are eating for dinner, or she'll try to tape her Dad doing something like singing in the shower. And it's so funny because I used to taperecord everything at my house when I was her age. I even sat the tape recorder in the tub once to tape record my brother going potty. Of course it was just sounds back then, but I thought I was hilarious and I would blackmail him that I would play the tape for his girlfriends. He would get so mad. She is becoming an "Artist" with her camera I'll post some of her pics she took of us and then Nick took a turn. But I tell them we need to get going. And I go to get my keys, and of course I cannot find them anywhere. I was getting so mad because it takes us 30 minutes to get to church and I really wanted to get there on time. Anyways we tore through the house. And Alaria said, "This is how Satan gets the Spirit to leave on a Sunday, we just have to pray that we'll find the keys and we will,!" So matter of fact. So we knelt and said a simple prayer about finding the keys and staying calm. So after I had looked through coats, pants, everywhere after her prayer I just felt like I should look in their bag they take to church, and they were there. They had been knocked into the bag from the computer desk where I had sat them. It was a tiny thing, but it taught me a huge lesson that I don't let the Lord help me with the little things that i so need help with. Then at church my sweet daughter got up and bore her testimony so poised like a 25 year old about how her uncle broke his Femur, she said that, and how her Grandpa's were both there that night to give him a blessing at the hospital and they saved his life. Then she went on to say that we prayed for the keys to get here this morning and Satan doesn't want us to be happy he wants us to be sad, so we should always pray. My sweet Nicky also bore his testimony for the first time, Alaria is an old pro, and he was so cute, his eyes were as big as saucers and I could tell everything he wanted to say flitted from his mind, but he was so brave and did so well. I told him it takes practice and he reminded me what a blessing it is to have a testimony. Love my kids so much and I do think they are the real teachers here! Here are some of the kids pics they took.

Computer Arms

I think Nick has formed new arms, they have a computer hooked to the end of them. He is now waking up early and I will find him on the computer. He is scary smart when it comes to the computer. Of course it's all about the coolest games he can find on different sites, but for a 5 year old he knows so much about the computer. I so sincerely hope he ends up speaking computer when he gets older. I wish I could speak computer. That is a language I'll never be able to learn. But, it's so cute to watch him just want to learn more and more about it. I love it when he tries to tell Tyler what to do.haha It's so funny to listen to him. And Tyler just looks at him like, well I don't know but it's  hilarous look to me.
There he is early in the morning where I now find him ALL the time. Now that the weather is getting nicer he can't wait to start baseball in a few weeks. So, hopefully we can tear him away from his sponge bob jammies to get to the park. I've never seen a kid with more energy than him.

Being Kids

Well it's been sad these last few months because the kids keep getting a cold of flu and pass it to me and we can't seem to get out of this crazy circle. The kids woke up sick again coughing with fevers. The doctor says it's just a virus not a bacterial infection which i've been worried about because we all keep catching it and it goes round and round. But by the end of the day today they were feeling a bit better and while Mom wasn't watching they decided to play cat and dog. Even though they spilled milk all over I had to laugh and remember when my brother and i would play ridiculous games before my Mom would get home from work. So, I couldn't help but smile that even thought they don't feel so great they wanted to still be kids and play. I love how resilient kids are and am so greatful for these sweet moments.

Glad they are KIDS

Student of The Month

Alaria has been such a rockstar at school since she started. This year she is really shining. She has already been able to eat with the principal 7 times this year, which usually takes a long time to get enough reward points to get to eat with the principal. She was Student of the Month for the whole school. We are so proud of her. She has a special drive to want to be the best student and is so funny when it comes to school. I pray it lasts and she always wants to set goals. She loves it so much. She also is convinced she will be a star of some kind on TV. It's so funny to watch American Idol with her or any show about amazing talented kids. She'll immediately drag out her Karaoke machine and put in a serious show. A song show or play or musical of somekind. She is so funny in the mornings before school she has to be sure she looks just right. I do believe I've created a monster that way. She is so funny. Love that Girl. She recently has started to become obsessed with basketball because her friends like to play at recess and her need to succeed is taking over. She made me buy her a basetball and she and Nick are constantly dribbling that ball all over the house. Some boy told her she "sucks" and it made her so mad that she came home and demanded we take her to the school to practice basketball. I told her there was NO way she will" suck" at basketball because her Mom plays and with m genes she just can't suck at basketball and she made me promise. haha So now we are obsessed with her dance concert coming up in May and learning B-ball seriously, being a fashionista and an all around great student. Help me Lord with some Energy. And that's just talking about alaria Nick is his own whirlwind tornado.haha

8 is GREAT!!!

                                                8 IS GREAT!!!!!!

Alaria has been soooo excited to turn 8. Although she still has to wait until September she had her program at church this Sunday about being baptized. All the kids that turn 8 this year came to this little program. They talked about the Primary Girls Activity Days and Alaria was so sad she can't start right now. She was sooo excited she held my hand the whole time and everytime the bishop asked a question about baptism her hand shot up in the air. It was so funny he had to call on some other kids. She is such a bright light in my life and she reminds me sooo much of myself when i was her age. I'm so excited that she is so excited and takes it so very seriously.

Ready to Rock 8

What A Weekend!!!

Tyler had his B-day. I'm so happy because now he will quit teasing me about being "so" much older than him, I'm only 2 months older and he loves to rub it in. But we had a fun little day. We took the kids to dinner and had fun except for the horrible news we got about my Brother Todd, which i will explain. But I promised Tyler we will be able to celebrate better when we go to San Diego next week. We get to go to the beach and pretend we are in a different reality for awhile, always fun.haha Well my brother
Todd just had surgery on his knee a few months ago. So he's been havong serious problems with this knee. A lot of pain and they want to give him a new knee but they think he's too young so they were doing stuff to reconstruct hoping they could just hold off on that. Well the other night he went out back to get his dog and it was dark and he just slipped in some mud and his bad leg went out first and all the weight went onto his bad leg and it just transferred the weight to his femur and it snapped in half. Well the real problem is that he has a blood clotting disease that forms blood clots that he has almost died from 3 times already. They ripped through his heart and lungs a few years ago and now he has pulmonary hypertension which just means his heart will only live about 6-7 more years. they can't give him a heart transplant because of his blood clotting disease. They have never been able to figure out where the clots are coming from and he has been on serious blood thinners for about 3-4 years. Well, when his femur snapped his blood was so thin he started to bleed to death internally. When they got to the hospital they wanted to tranfer him to a bigger hospital because of his heart and the fact that his blood was so thin. Well they had to wait for 5-6 hours to operate while trying to get his blood a little thicker, while they waited his tissue started dying and they had to make a snap decision to do surgery or he would lose his leg. They did the surgery but his blood got too thick and he formed a few huge clots that they have been trying to drain. They had to put some steel plates to put his femur back together. Well this morning the doctor said they aren't out of the woods because they can't get his blood too thin or he'll bleed to death from his surgical wounds which he is still losing blood from, and yet it's still too thick and he is forming several clots which a small one could easily form and sneak through to his heart or lungs or brain and kill him. They don't know what to do with him at this point. It is soooo frustrating. So too thin and he bleeds and too thick he clots. Everytime in the past they have pulled him off his blood thinners he has clotted so bad he ended up in the ICU, so they are struggling to figure out what to do. They are even discussing amputating hisleg because his tissue is not doing well and that way they can cauterize the wound and stop the bleeding and get it to stay thin enough that he won't bleed out. I don't know. I'm going crazy here because I can't go up to Colorado because I am waiting for the date and time for my liver biopsy which is kind of freaking me out a little bit. But I Just worry about Todd. I love my Brother.
FINALLY a doctor, my OB looked at ALL my labs and ct scans I've had in the last year and she asked me if I knew my spleen and liver are enlarged!! No I said. These Docs kill me. She said she sees several things in my blood work, that she didn't even do, that scared her and is abnormal.
She said A LOT of areas show concern. I'm dumbfounded that it took my OB to finallly take a look at all my labs that are all right there on Presbyterian's computers. ALL my doctors I've seen, the specialists have access, and my GP who gets all my labs and results who i just saw a week ago for all these issues with my heart has all the info my OB went and printed off and i sat in her office while she flipped through the paper work and in 2 minutes she is shaking her head wondering why no one has checked my liver and spleen. Why no one has wondered why I've been severely nauseous for 6 months and been vomiting severely for a month and my blood pressure went throught the roof. She asked me what my GP has been saying about all of this and when i told her he asked me If I am seeing a psychiatrist she laughed and said i need a new Doctor. Really??? I've been trying like crazy to find someone to care and it's great she does but she is an OB and doesn't specialize in all of the stuff she is worried about she just sees a lot of crap in all of the collective news. Why is it becuase I told my GP I have Fibro he assumes everything is that? And it's in my head. Just really frustrated right now. Wishing I was a celebrity or had some serious money so I could get some attention to the crap that people deal with. So, not impressed with this situation. I just don't want anyone to go through what I've gone through and I know I'm not the only one for sure that has a chronic pain disorder and everything that happens after is automatically assumed to be a part of that. Just angry becuase we pay for insurance and they pay my doctor, they do get money to see me, is it really that hard to see an enlarged liver and spleen on a scan and say somehitng about it? Like maybe, you should check this out or anything. I just hope and pray my kids do not get sick while we live here. I might end up in jail.lol
So, I got my tests back that she sent me for and sure enough my liver work came back and each test shows that i'm 250pts over the normal range on everthing. Same with my Red Blood Cell count which is wierd. Normally women are anemic or low on blood and iron. Then several other things were off. She sounded very concerned and said we can't wait for you to get into an Internist by waiting for a new patient appt. and I'm going to call my contacts and find you and internist as as soon as possible because you need a liver biopsy done and i will get you in asap. So, that was last week and she calls me every day telling me she is trying very hard to get me seen. It's so hard because Internist's are only in their office a few days a week and then they are doing other procedures in Hospitals and clinics. So, I'm waiting and I'm not doing anymore internet searches on my test results and what it could mean. Freaked myself out. I know the Lord is smacking me over the head to learn patience. Maybe I'll get it down soon. So it seems my family needs a few prayers our way. Especially for Todd. No matter how old I get I will always think of my older sister and brother in a way they'll never understand. I love them both more than they'll ever know and i think of them more than they know. What ever may come in this life i know we'll never be given more than we can handle no matter what. I'm so greatful for that knowledge.

Valentine Surprise

The kids had a great Valentines day they both had the classic party in class. They were so cute in their Valentines day outfits from Grandma.

Sweet Heart
So, it's no secret that we have had a hard past 6 months. We've been scared and things have been day to day. It's Valentines day and I've been so sick lately that we've been just surviving day to day and all of our energy goes to the kids and Tyler has been taking care of all of us. I've always known I have the best husband ever and wonder if he could really be for real, but he just continues to amaze me and show me what real love is about. He has been traveling more for work lately and awhile ago he let me know he was supposed to be going to San Diego, CA in march. So, I've been preparing for the thought of him being gone for a week. We also had thought about maybe me going along, but about a month ago they told them that the business trip was cancelled and I never thought about it again. So, Tyler handed me a Valentine's card and it was so cute and sweet and when I opened it there was a plane ticket to San Diego, CA. The trip had never been cancelled and he has been planning all along to take me with him. His Mom will come and watch the kids. I was so surprised. I loved it. I'm soooo excited to hand on the beach in CA with my hubby. It will be so great to take a little step out of all the trials we've been through. It's the best  valentines surprise ever. I love my husband so much and am so happy that we are closer than we've ever been. I love him more than I ever thought I could love anyone. Happy Valentines Day!!!1

This is my ticket to the beach, yaya

Bieber Fever!!

So, I have been listening to Alaria talk about this crush she and her friends have on justin Bieber. It has been so funny and cute to listen to her talk about it. She kept telling me she would just die if she could see him in concert. So funny and I loved remembering how funny and cute a crush is when you are 7. She has been talking about his movie coming out and she would just die to go. She loves a girls' night out but it's always been with family, so I decided to take her and her friend to the movie for girls night out. It was absoulutely adorable to watch all the little girls and their reactions to this movie. I was surprised how packed it was and understood when I got in the theatre just what Bieber Fever is. The whole theatre of girls were singing all his songs while waiting and when the movie came on they ALL screamed like they were backstage at a concert. It was soooo funny and I loved being there to watch Alaria and her excitement. Here are some pics of her girls night. Too fun for her.

Superbowl 2011

Well we had a great Superbowl party that was a lot of fun. The Green bay packers won this year which I was happy about. Not the Denver Broncos which would have been a lot more fun, but oh well at least we could focus more on the food and commercials this year. Tyler was awesome and made our yummy Jorgensen style Won Tons. Other great finger foods. He is So funny when he is in the kitchen. I like to call him the kitchen nazi. He feels threatened if I get anywhere near him while he is in his mojo. He actually will come behind me after I load the dishwasher and reload it. Thanks, Tom for that.haha Only LeAnne can know my pain there. It's funny though I like to put pans and crazy crap all over the place just to mess with him. The kids had so much fun this year. My favorite commercial was easily the little darth vador dude doing his magic on everything. Totally reminded me of my nephew Jaden and his acting skillzz.
My poor sweet niece rolled her car yesterday and it freaked me out because it reminded me when her Mom was 20 or 21, i was in the 5th grade, anywho she was hit T-boned basically in her tiny car on a highway on her driver side and ejected out of the sunroof and flew far and was flown to utah, 3hours from home and nearly died and was nearly paralyzed. So, when I got the text and horrible pictures of her car from my sister yesterday morning I had flashbacks of the night that happened. I'm so glad she is OK and sad for her that she lost her first car. Just so glad she is OK. Because I love her like she is my own. Although they live so far away i miss them terribly and have always thought of my 2 girls, courtney and morgan like my own. She will be sore and miss her car but I'm so glad she is OK as far as her body goes. She is so special to us.

"The Day After Tomorrow?"

So they are saying on the news that they have NEVER before seen the Northern Hemisphere covered by so much cloud from space. Has anyone seen the movie The Day After Tomorrow? One of my favs. It looked like that when they showed the picture from space. The whole of the US and A lot of Candada was completely covered in white. No visible land. A little creepy if you ask me. They say the next 5 winters are supposed to get even colder. Interesting. It's better to watch the news when they talk about just the weather. We can ignore all the crazies for a few days and stay inside. The kids have been out of school now for 3 days straight. Which is actually good for them because they've been sick. Alaria is mending and I think Nick is turning a corner, but luckily tomorrow they are out again and I think they will have their energy back and that is good. I hate seeing them just laying on the couch so lethargic. Now, tomorrow I can be like the rest of the Mom's who have had their kids, that are used to being in school and are sooooo bored, at home. My blood pressure will surely go through the roof.haha Really it will be nice to see them going and lets pray that they will STAY well.

NOT the picture Health

Oh, school was cancelled today. You think it would be celebration around here, Not soooo much. My poor kids and myself and even Tyler have been ravaged by a horrible Flu and cold strain that just keeps cycling through the family. The kids have each had it 3 times. We kept Alaria home yesterday and bam Nick woke up early this morning throwing up. AHHHH I will rip all my hair out. There is nothing worse than watching your kids be sick. A LOT. Look at these poor little ones, well two little ones. This is NOT the picture of health.
                                          How SAD is that?
I seriously want to hire those restoration companies that come in and clean out your house after a natural disaster like a fire, flood, or earthquake. They can come and get rid of this flu bug that will not get out of here. Can't wait to put that bowl back in the cupboard where it belongs and not in front of us to catch all the puke-ola. Yucky. I'm counting on February to save us and really be the month of LOVE:)

Family Friends

I'm just having a chance to get this on here right now. Our great family friends, The Norton's who ripped out hears out when they left New Mexico and moved to Texas. They moved from Texas back to Utah and luckily were able to stop in for a visit. Amy and Greg Norton brought the sweetest family into our lives even if it was for a short time. Their oldest daughter Hailey and Alaria hit it off. They were two peas in a pod. They spent a lot of time together laughing all the way. I loved to heat them laugh. They were like little sisters. So cute. And their Son Freemen was exactly Nick's age. It was like a marriage made in heaven for the 4 of them. And we also love their Bella and Ty like honorary family members. It was seriously the saddest day when they moved away. Alaria and Nick still get sad, but for one Night they came back and the kids didn't skip a beat. They had a little sleep over and had a blast.
